(gf) Gulfood, one of the world´s top exhibitions for the food, drink, foodservice and hospitality industry is preparing for its biggest edition yet with four exciting days of dedicated events and programmes. To meet the increased industry demand, Gulfood will expand to a record 80’000 square metres.
Chicago / IL. (npd) Six percent of the roughly 62 billion commercial foodservice meals and snacks consumed in the USA a year are purchased at retail stores – food, drug, discount, department, and price clubs – and convenience stores represent an additional seven percent, according to The NPD Group.

(caf) ConAgra Foods Inc., one of North America´s leading food companies, reported results for the fiscal 2009 second quarter ended November 23, 2008 and confirmed that it expected total year diluted EPS from continuing operations to be slightly above 1,50 USD; excluding items that impact comparability.
Minneapolis / MN. (gm) General Mills Inc. reported results for the Q2/2009. Net sales for the 13 weeks ended November 23 increased eight percent to 4,01 billion USD. Segment operating profits grew nine percent to 782 million USD despite higher input costs and a 21 percent increase in marketing investment.
Copenhagen / DK. (das) In the second quarter 2008/2009, Danisco A/S recorded revenue of 3,3 billion DKK and EBIT before share-based payments of 317 million DKK. Organic growth accelerated, reaching eleven percent for the quarter and exceeding our long-term growth targets for the Group.
Ho Chi Minh City / VN. (kdc) Vietnamese Kinh Do Corporation opened a new 400-billion-VND-factory in southern Binh Duong Province (17,72 million EUR), the company said. Occupying nine hectares of land, the new confectionary plant also has a research and development centre and meets GMP and HACCP standards.
Madrid / ES. (sos) In July this year the Spanish Grupo SOS announced that it had reached an agreement with Unilever on the acquisition of Bertolli, the world leader in bottled olive oil. It also stated that one of the ways in which it would fund this acquisition would be by the sale of certain assets.
