Aryzta: Announces New Frozen Bread Line at Ancaster

Missisauga / CA. (aag) Aryzta North America is excited to announce a new frozen bread line extension at its bakery in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. Aryzta’s 237,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art Ancaster bakery makes a variety of breakfast and sweet baked goods for foodservice and retail customers under the Oakrun Farm Bakery® and Otis Spunkmeyer® brands and for private label.

Launching this month, the new frozen bread line expands Ancaster’s offerings into frozen breads and is capable of producing large loaves as well as small rolls and buns. The frozen dough is shipped to retail grocers and foodservice accounts, where it is freshly baked in-store. While the new line will initially supply customers in Canada, the capacity increase will enable Aryzta to expand supply and meet customer needs throughout North America. The line employs 48 people and boosts the bakery’s current nine-line footprint up to ten production lines.

«The Ancaster bakery is key to our long-term growth plans,» says Deb Cochrane, President, Aryzta Canada, adding, «With this efficient new line, we are investing to diversify our offerings, build sustainability, and most importantly, be a stronger and more cost-competitive partner to our customers.»

Aryzta expects the new line to get up to full capacity quickly and to operate five days a week/24 hours a day. The Company continues to grow within the frozen bread category in foodservice, convenience and retail channels throughout North America.
