AAK: Operating profit reached record high in Q1/2013

Malmo / SE. (aak) Swedish AarhusKarlshamn AB (AAK) announced a record high first quarter operating profit driven by continued strong performance in Food Ingredients.

  • Operating profit reached a record high 242 million SEK (220 million SEK), after negative currency translation impact of six million SEK, an improvement of ten percent compared to the corresponding quarter in 2012
  • Volumes increased by six percent
  • Food Ingredients – reached a record high operating profit of 158 million SEK (137 million SEK), an improvement by 15 percent
  • Chocolate + Confectionery Fats – improved operating profit by four percent and reported 84 million SEK (81 million SEK)
  • Technical Products + Feed – improved operating profit by four percent and reported 26 million SEK (25 million SEK)
  • Earnings per share increased by ten percent, from 3,43 SEK to 3,78 SEK
  • Ebitda improved 25 million SEK, from 305 million SEK to 330 million SEK

«Based on AAK´s customer value propositions for health and reduced costs, our customer product co-development and solutions approach and the AAK Acceleration program, we continue to remain prudently optimistic for the future. The main drivers are expected to be the strong Food Ingredients business and the expected recovery in Chocolate + Confectionery Fats. Irrespective of market conditions, the anticipated improvement in the Chocolate + Confectionery Fats results is however unlikely to be significant until the second half of 2013», said Arne Frank, CEO and President.
