Paris / FR. (ep) The eighth edition of the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie (Bakery World Cup – PDF, 32 pages, 3´537 KB) took place from 03rd to 07th March at the Europain 2012 in Paris. With a worldwide following, this competition is every time a major event for the profession. This year the competition featured 36 bakers from twelve countries: Costa Rica, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Senegal, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan and the United States. Contestants were judged in four baking categories: Bread, Viennese Pastry, Savory Presentation and Artistic Piece. Following three days of competition, Japan was named winner in the 2012 Bakery World Cup (Yuki Nagata, Takuya Sasaki, Yasuo Hatanaka) – followed closely by the team of the United States (Michael Zakowski, Jeremey Gadouas, Harry Peemoeller), that secured second place. Bakers representing Taiwan (Ching Tai-Chang, Lin Kun-Wei, Huang Wei-Hsun) came third at the competition.
