Minsk / BY. (ami) During January to October period of 2009, the enterprises of the bakery department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus produced 37,7 thousand tonnes of groats products, an increase of 1,4 percent compared to the same period last year, informed the department. During ten months of the current year, organizations of the department produced 29,1 thousand tonnes of groats, up 0,2 percent compared to January to October level of 2008. In particular, the organizations produced 7,8 thousand tonnes of pearl barley (down six percent compared to January to October period of 2008); 6,4 thousand tonnes of fine ground barley (down 21,5 percent); 3,9 thousand tonnes of wheat groats (down 15,8 percent); including also 3,2 thousand tonnes of semolina groats (up 0,5 percent). During January to October of the current year, oatmeal and buckwheat groats production volumes increased by 26,6 percent (to four thousand tonnes) and 33,8 percent (to 6,3 thousand tonnes), respectively. The plants produced 8,4 thousand tonnes of fast-cooked groats products, an increase of 5,7 percent compared to January-October period of 2008 (source: agrimarket.info).
