Minneapolis / MN. (gm) General Mills announced its decision to restructure its Australian operations. This will mean the closure of General Mills’ manufacturing facility in Mount Waverley, Victoria and the consolidation of its Australian manufacturing activity into an expanded production facility in Rooty Hill, New South Wales and broader Australian supply chain network. The closure of the Mount Waverley facility will occur between April and June 2018. All staff in both locations have been informed of the closure. General Mills will be working to redeploy and relocate employees to Rooty Hill as appropriate, but it is likely that most roles from Mount Waverley will become redundant. The difficult decision to close the Mount Waverley facility, which makes pasta, sauce and ready-to-eat meals, was taken to simplify General Mills’ supply chain and secure the future growth of the business.
