(gwl) George Weston Limited announced the forthcoming appointment of Robert Sawyer as a director of the Company, to take effect in September 2016 following the impending retirement of Charles Baillie from the Board. Sawyer served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of RONA Inc. from 2013 to 2016. Prior to RONA, Sawyer was with Metro Inc., where during his 34 years he held several key positions in Quebec and Ontario, including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2009 to 2013. In commenting on the announcement, Executive Chairman W. Galen Weston said «With Robert’s executive leadership capabilities and the wealth of retail knowledge he has amassed over his distinguished career, we look forward to his contributions to our Board».
