Mexico City / MX. (gb) Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de C.V. confirmed that the Group is in the final stage of the negotiations with the U.S. Department of Justice on its acquisition of Sara Lee Corporation´s fresh bakery business in the United States. The deal was originally announced in November 2010 and is expected to close in the coming weeks (see also «Grupo Bimbo To Acquire Sara Lee NAFB» on 2010-11-10). In a separate statement, Sara Lee also confirmed that the companies are finalizing discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice. Sara Lee also confirmed it is confident that the transaction will close in the coming weeks.
