Hershey: Nominates New Independent Director for Election

Hershey / PA. (thc) The Hershey Company announced that its Board of Directors has nominated Juan R. Perez, Chief Information and Engineering Officer, United Parcel Service, Inc., for election to the Board. The Hershey Board has also nominated the current chairman and all other current members of the Board for re-election. The elections will take place at the company’s annual stockholder meeting on May 21, 2019. Following the elections, the Hershey Board will be comprised of 12 members, of which 11 will be independent directors.

Davis, Chairman of the Board, The Hershey Company. «His wide range of commercial, operational and technological knowledge and experience will bring new depth to Hershey’s highly qualified Board of Directors as the company continues to focus on growth across the snacking continuum.»

Perez has served in numerous leadership roles during his nearly 30-year career at UPS, including Chief Information Officer, Vice President of Technology and other positions of increasing responsibility across operations, engineering, process management, and technology in corporate, U.S., and international business units. He has been recognized for his technical and leadership contributions, most notably as the 2018 Georgia CIO of the Year® by the ORBIE® Awards, a Premier IT Leader by Computer World and a Top Latino Leader by the Council for Latino Workplace Equality.

Perez earned his BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a MS in Computer and Manufacturing Engineering, from the University of Southern California. He is a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the American Society for Quality.
