Internorga: prize 2008 goes to Walter Gehl of LSG Sky Chefs

Hamburg / DE. (hm) This year´s Internorga honorary prize goes to Walter Gehl, Chairman of the Management Board of LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, a Lufthansa subsidiary. They are the market leader in international airline catering with their brand LSG Sky Chefs. One out of every three meals served in aircraft throughout the world is made by LSG Sky Chefs. The prize will be presented at the Internorga opening ceremony in the Fish Auction Hall, Hamburg-Altona, on Thursday 06 March. The award speech will be made by Hamburg-based celebrity chef Cornelia Poletto. The leading fair for the hotel, restaurant, catering and confectionery trades, with some 1.000 exhibitors from Germany and abroad, will be held at the Hamburg Fair site from 07 to 12 March. Walter Gehl is the winner of this year´s Internorga honorary prize, as the manager of a catering company which makes and distributes more food and beverages than practically any other in the world. In 2006 LSG Sky Chefs produced some 387 million meals worldwide, for more than 300 airlines. At Frankfurt Airport alone, it provides catering for nearly 500 flights a day. LSG Sky Chefs is based in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt, and comprises a total of 140 companies located throughout the world. It operates in nearly 50 countries, employing some 28.000 people at about 190 facilities. Its consolidated sales volume in 2006 was around 2,3 billion Euro.
