Cologne / DE. (km) In 1971 the Aswan Dam was inaugurated in Egypt, Mc Donalds opened in Munich its first fast food restaurant in Germany and the credit institutions in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Benelux countries decided to issue standard Eurocheques and Eurocheque cards.
1971 was also the year when the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (ISM) made its debut in Cologne – the start of a remarkable success story not only for the trade fair itself but also for many manufacturers from Germany and from many countries around the world. Today there are 41 companies looking back together with ISM on this 40 year history. They exhibited at the first ISM, which took place in February 1971, and have taken part at every ISM to date.
The spectrum of products offered by these 41 companies includes chocolates and sugar confectionery, fine baked goods and snack products. Sopexa France, one of the world´s most important export organisations, has been represented at ISM right from the start. This loyal group of exhibitors also includes the Italian company Luigi Zaini S.P.A. and Steenland Chocolate B.V. from the Netherlands. All the other exhibitors in this group are German companies.
ISM: The leading fair for the international confectionery industry
ISM is the world´s leading fair for the trade in confectionery and snack items. With approximately 1’500 suppliers from around 70 countries, ISM presents a comprehensive range of confectionery and snack items. The trade fair presents a nearly complete overview of the following product groups: chocolate, sugar confectionery, biscuits, snack products, ice cream and raw pastes. Only end products intended exclusively for retail sale are presented.
Conceived as a fair exclusively for trade visitors, ISM is very effective at bringing together supply and demand. On all four days of the trade fair – 31st January to 03rd February 2010 – ISM will be open exclusively to trade visitors from the wholesale and retail trades.
ProSweets Cologne taking place in parallel to ISM
ProSweets Cologne, the trade fair for suppliers to the confectionery industry, will again take place entirely in parallel to ISM in 2010. At ProSweets Cologne and the leading trade fair ISM, Koelnmesse presents the confectionery industry´s entire value chain at one trade fair location, starting with raw ingredients, technology and packaging and ending with the product ready for retail sale. Together, the two fairs will therefore offer exhibitors and visitors outstanding synergy effects (km).
