Istanbul / TR. (hdm) The Turkish bakery chain Komsufirin is focusing on countrywide expansion over the next four years, aiming to grow its current 24 shops to 350 by the year 2013. The bakery chain also hopes to increase its annual turnover from 14,5 million Turkish Liras (TRY) to 340 million TRY over the same period. That means from 6,6 million EUR to 155 million EUR (Interbank). According to «Hürriyet» Komsufirin Doruk Unlu Mamüller Sanayi ve Perakende Hizmetleri A.S. is a joint venture between the Doruk and Ülker Groups. At present, bread consumption in Türkiye ranks among the highest in the world, at 150 kilograms per capita. The sales volume of the country´s eleven-million-ton bread market was estimated at 22 million TRY last year. Komsufirin is expected to invest a total of 100 million TRY in its nationwide expansion, creating some 3’000 jobs. The neighboring markets Komsufirin hopes to enter after 2013 include Eastern Europe, Russia and countries in the Black Sea and Gulf regions.
