Krispy Kreme: Expands Its Presence In South Korea

Winston-Salem / NC. (kkd) Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc., member of the South Korean Lotte Group, advances its presence in Asia Pacific with the planned opening of its 100th store in South Korea. The global sweet treat retailer´s Korea-based franchisee, Lotteria Company Limited is scheduled to mark the milestone with a December 16, 2014 grand opening celebration for its fans. Located in Jeonju Jeonbuk, a city of rich history, the new 3’200 square foot (300 square metres) doughnut factory features indoor seating for 50 guests. The focal point of the store will be Krispy Kreme´s iconic «Doughnut Theater» viewing area, where customers of all ages can enjoy watching the melt-in-your-mouth doughnut varieties being cooked, glazed, filled and topped in front of them anytime the «Hot Doughnuts Now» sign is illuminated. «We are proud to celebrate this joyous occasion with our partners at Lotteria», said Dan Beem, President – International of Krispy Kreme. «Lotteria Company Limited propelled our entry into Asia Pacific in 2004 with the opening of the first Krispy Kreme location in Korea. A decade later, this newest location in Jeaonju Jeonbuk is being celebrated as both Krispy Kreme´s 100th shop in Korea and its 300th shop in Asia Pacific». «We opened the Shinchon store, the first Krispy Kreme in Korea, on December 16, 2004.
