Lallemand: acquires Baker’s Yeast Business in Europe

Montreal / CA. (lm) Lallemand Inc. is pleased to announce the completion of the acquisition from AB Mauri of the GBI (ex DSM) baker´s yeast business in Spain and Portugal as well as of the AB Mauri yeast plant located in Setubal (south of Lisbon). This acquisition gives Lallemand a major presence, with experienced teams and leading brands, in the Iberian baker´s yeast markets and capacity also eventually to compete more effectively in the French market as well as in the world dry yeast markets. Lallemand Inc. is a privately held Canadian company specializing in the research, development, production, marketing and distribution of yeast and bacteria. Lallemand has approximately 2’000 employees located in more than 30 countries on all continents (300 employees in Montreal). The company has four major divisions: North American Bakers Yeast and Ingredients (based in Chicago, USA), European Yeast (based in Vienna, Austria), Specialty (based in Toulouse, France) and Lallemand Africa (based in Johannesburg, RSA). Administrative offices for the parent company are in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
