Lotus Bakeries: Meise completely destroyed in fire

Lembeke / BE. (lbbv) A fire broke out in one of the Lotus Bakeries production facilities, in Meise at approximately 11:00 o’clock on Thursday. All persons present in the factory have been evacuated in a timely manner and brought to a safe location. There are no casualties amongst the Lotus Bakeries employees. The employees have been offered shelter nearby the factory. The fire brigade has arrived at the scene and has done the utmost in order to subdue the fire. Unfortunately, the factory has completely been destroyed. The factory in Meise produces waffles, mainly for the French and English markets. The waffles for the Belgian market are mainly produced in the Courcelles factory. We will now take all necessary measures in order to maintain deliveries to the customers. CEO Jan Boone: «We feel relieved that there are no casualties amongst our employees. However, this day will remain a dark page in the history of Lotus Bakeries.
