Secretary´s Award: honour for Little Caesars founder

Detroit / MG. (lcp) Little Ceasars Enterprises Inc. in November 2006 launched a veterans program. It creates an opportunity for veterans to become Little Caesars franchise owners. The program lessens some of the hurdles for those who may not otherwise have the opportunity or the financial resources to become entrepreneurs. In recognition of his service to veterans the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs now presented Little Caesar founder Michael Ilitch (77) with the Secretary´s Award, the highest tribute given to a private citizen by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Ilitch now hopes that competing food franchisers copy his program to help U.S. military veterans open up new restaurants. «We are going to be opening one new store owned by a veteran every 14 or 15 days next year», Ilitch said in an interview in Washington.
