Sweden: Who will be Pastry Chef of the Year 2021?

Stockholm / SE. (bca) After a year’s involuntary hiatus, Pastry Chef of the Year is back in full force. Five of the country’s best pastry chefs have made it to the finals and will now compete for the prestigious title of «Pastry Chef of the Year 2021», as well as the Swedish champion for professional pastry chefs. The final will take place during the Bak- och chokladfestivalen in Stockholm on 12 to 13 November.

The competition for Pastry Chef of the Year is over and now five of the country’s most skilled pastry chefs are ready for the final of the Swedish championship for professional pastry chefs. The competition has been running since 1988 and this year’s final is traditionally characterised by a carefully chosen theme. Based on the theme of Phenomenon, each of the finalists must create a total of 5 cakes, 30 pastries in 3 different varieties and 10 plate desserts in 10 hours, spread over two days. This year’s Pastry Chef of the Year is a first-class display of technical skill, taste precision and creative height where every detail counts.

«I’m incredibly curious to see how this year’s finalists will interpret this year’s theme of Phenomenon, where only the imagination sets the limits. After a year of pandemic, with many pastry shops under pressure, this year’s Pastry Chef of the Year is eagerly awaited by the industry. That’s why this year’s final is set to be a real show, with the contestants already proving that they are of the highest calibre. If they are half as excited as I am, we are guaranteed a final out of the ordinary,» says Martin Lundell, CEO of the Swedish Bakers and Confectioners Association, which organises the Pastry Chef of the Year competition.

The Pastry Chef of the Year competition is organised by the Swedish Bakers and Confectioners Association and will be held over two days on 12-13 November at the Bak- och Chokladfestivalen at Stockholmsmässan. The final will be held in front of an audience, restrictions permitting. All cakes, pastries and desserts are baked on site and judged by a taste jury and a method jury.
