Nashville / TN. (tbc) The Bun Companies (TBC) announced an agreement to acquire Masada Bakery. Founded 1996, The Bun Companies are a leading manufacturer and innovator in the wholesale baking, frozen dough and storage industries. Products are found in the leading quick service restaurants, food service providers and grocery stores east of the Rocky Mountains. The family of businesses includes Tennessee Bun Company – bakeries in Nashville and Dickson, Tennessee – and Cold Storage of Nashville. Masada Bakery was founded 1981 by Hezi Stein in Atlanta, Georgia. By 1995 the majority of the business came from restaurants, hotel and catering. The artisan baker moved to its current location in 2003. According to the company, Masada is the largest variety baker in the Southeast. «Joining TBC and Masada Bakery will allow the companies to capture more synergies and leverage greater purchasing power», said TBC chief executive Cordia Harrington. «Our complementary product lines will allow you to enjoy additional product offerings, and combining the teams means a sharing of best practices among some of the industries´ leading talent, including product development, supply chain management experience and proven quality management». Koby Stein, brother of Hezi Stein, will remain as president of Masada Bakery, according to the TBC news release. «Hezi and Koby have created innovative artisan products, continuing to upgrade their equipment and quality standards», Harrington said in the statement. «It is impressive and exciting to join with them to continue to grow in the marketplace». According to newspapers, the Masada purchase is TBC´s first acquisition. With that, TBC now reaches sales of 75 million USD per annum. The deal will increase the revenue to more than 100 million USD. The number of employees is now doubled to more than 500 people.
