(ami) According to forecasts of the Hydrometeorological centre of Ukraine, production volumes of grains and leguminous plants in Ukraine in 2009 will total nearly 41,3 million tonnes, marked Anatoliy Prokopenko, the deputy director of Hydrometeorological centre of Ukraine, on July 28. As Prokopenko says, the steppe zone of the country will harvest 18 million tonnes of grains, the forest-steppe zone also 18 million tonnes, Polesye zone 5,3 million tonnes of grains. In 2008, the forecasts of the Hydrometeorological centre came true (conformity of forecasted and real data) by 89 percent. In 2009, harvest formation met rather normal conditions. However, droughts in April and at the beginning of summer caused the reduction grain yield, marked Prokopenko (source: agrimarket.info).
