Unilever announces sale of South Africa spreads business

Rotterdam / NL. (ul) Unilever and Remgro announced that Unilever will acquire Remgro’s 25.75 percent shareholding in Unilever South Africa Holdings (Pty) Ltd (Unilever SA) in exchange for the Unilever Spreads business in Southern Africa as well as a cash consideration of 4.9 billion South African Rand (ZAR), representing a transaction value of 11.9 billion ZAR.

This transaction values the Spreads business at 7.0 billion ZAR, representing a 13.4 multiple of 2016 Ebitda.
