(kkc) Kesko Group’s sales in April 2023 totalled EUR 964.4 million, representing a decrease of 3.8 percent in comparable terms. ”«Sales in April grew in the grocery trade and car trade divisions. Sales in grocery trade were negatively impacted by the timing of Easter deliveries, which partly took place in March. In building and technical trade, sales decreased as construction activity declined. In addition, sales in both grocery trade and building and technical trade were negatively impacted by April having one delivery day less this year than the year before. Sales in car trade increased clearly in all business areas,» says Kesko’s President and CEO Mikko Helander.
Sales in the grocery trade division totalled EUR 508.9 million in April, an increase of 2.5 percent. Grocery sales to K Group grocery stores increased by 1.0 percent year-on-year. Sales in K-Citymarket’s home and speciality goods (non-food) increased. Kespro’s sales grew by 8.0 percent.
Sales in the building and technical trade division totalled EUR 344.7 million in April, a decrease of 18.3 percent in comparable terms in local currencies. Sales in building and home improvement trade decreased by 25.2 percent in comparable terms. Onninen’s sales decreased by 9.8 percent in comparable terms. Sales decreased in comparable terms by 19.7 percent in Finland, 23.2 percent in Sweden, and 15.1 percent in Norway. Reported sales in the building and technical trade division decreased by 17.3 percent.
Sales in the car trade division totalled EUR 112.8 million in April, an increase of 28.7 percent. Sports trade has been part of the division from 01 April 2023 onwards. Prior to that, sports trade was part of the building and technical trade division. Car trade sales grew by 46.7 percent in comparable terms. Registrations of new cars in Finland were up by 13.6 percent in passenger cars and by 2.2 percent in vans compared to the year before. The number of used passenger cars sold in Finland increased by 2.3 percent year-on-year. Sports trade sales decreased by 20.6 percent. Kesko Group’s sales in April 2023 totalled EUR 964.4 million, representing a decrease of 3.8 percent in comparable terms.
