Cargill: New Member Elected to Board of Directors

Minneapolis / MN. (cg) The chairman and chief executive officer of Hartford, Connecticut-based United Technologies Corporation, Louis R. Chenevert, has been elected to the Cargill Inc. Board of Directors. «Louis brings a tremendous background of leadership and management experience that will serve our board well», said Greg Page, Cargill chairman and chief executive officer.

Chenevert was named chairman and CEO of United Technologies in 2010, after serving as its president and CEO since 2008. He has been a director since 2006. Previously, Chenevert was president of Pratt + Whitney from 1999 through early 2006. Before joining Pratt + Whitney, Chenevert spent 14 years in leadership positions with General Motors. «I am pleased to join the board of Cargill, a company known for innovation, high-quality products and a strong presence in international markets, and look forward to contributing to its continued success», Chenevert said.

Chenevert joins five other independent directors on Cargill´s board: Richard H. Anderson, chief executive officer of Delta Air Lines Inc.; Arthur D. Collins, Jr., retired chairman and chief executive officer of Medtronic Inc.; Linda Zarda Cook, former executive director of Royal Dutch Shell PLC; Bernard Poussot, former chairman, chief executive officer and president of Wyeth; and Richard M. Kovacevich, chairman emeritus of Wells Fargo + Company.
