Gate Gourmet: employees ratify new contract

Reston / VA. (prn) Gate Gourmet Inc.´s Union-represented workers have ratified a new National Master Agreement. The contract will cover the airline catering company´s 5’300 U.S.-based represented workers with an agreement that maintains the company´s market competitiveness while also addressing employee issues. The offer was sent for ratification vote following seven months of challenging yet productive negotiations between Gate Gourmet Inc. and the IBT/HERE Employee Representatives´ Council. More than 95 percent of the Company´s voting membership is represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and UNITE HERE; other employees are represented by the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, and also the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers International Union. «Considering the enormous challenges still facing our industry, we are very pleased to achieve agreement with our Union-represented workers on a contract that reflects our commitment to them and recognizes their ongoing service and dedication. This allows us to continue moving forward together with our valued employees», said Andrew Gibson, Group SVP and President, North America. The contract next will be amendable on December 31, 2012.
