Berlin / DE. (igw) From 15 to 24 January 2010 companies and organisations from the food industry will be staging a presentation entitled «Power for life – food and activity» at the International Green Week (IGW). This combined stand at the fair has already proved to be a major attraction during the last two years. With an attendance of 150’000 and a high profile display, the stand was acknowledged as one of the most attractive features by visitors to the IGW 2009 in Berlin.
The stand in Hall 1.2, a joint initiative by the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE) and the German Federation of Food Law and Food Science (BLL), again provides consumers with a platform where they can learn more about the subjects of «Food» and «Activity». This industry, one of the cornerstones of the domestic economy, is demonstrating its confidence in its own capabilities at the world´s largest consumer fair, with information about its everyday achievements on behalf of consumers.
The display focuses on the contributions by the food industry to ensuring a balanced diet combined with enjoyment, as well as its efforts to motivate people to become more active. Useful details will be provided in an entertaining and enjoyable way through numerous sporting activities, exciting quizzes, an informative exhibition section and a varied programme for all age groups.
The BVE is the leading association for promoting the economic interests of the food industry in Germany and is a non-commercial sponsor of the world´s largest consumer fair, the IGW. With over 530’000 employees in 5’800 businesses and a turnover of 155 billion EUR in 2008 this is one of the most important branches of industry in Germany.
The BLL represents associations and companies at every stage along the food chain – the industry, the trade, the skilled trades, farming and adjoining areas. The main focus of the activities of the BLL is on food law and on the dissemination of information about food. The association is one of the founding members of the Nutrition and Activity Platform, which is dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
