London / UK. (tlp) Tate + Lyle PLC issued its second profits warning in three months but eased concerns over its debts by revealing it had cut borrowings much faster than had been expected. In a «Trading Statement On Entering Closed Period» the company issued the following update.
Camden / NJ. (csc) Campbell Soup Company announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire artisan bread maker Ecce Panis Inc., headquartered in East Brunswick, New Jersey (U.S.). Campbell plans to run the business as part of its Pepperidge Farm bakery operations.
Helsinki / FI. (fg) The turnover 2008 of Finnlands Fazer Group amounted to 1’159,7 million EUR, representing a comparable increase of 11,6 percent from year 2007. The operating profit, excluding sales profit relating to Candyking and non-recurring items, increased from 34,6 million EUR to 44,6 million EUR.

According to data released by Technomic Inc., in its annual reporting the foodservice consultancy found that U.S. systemwide sales for the Top 500 rose to an estimated 230,2 billion USD in 2008.
