Nick Ridley, Property Director at Costa Coffee: «We are excited to join forces with Sainsbury’s, bringing our much-loved experiences to shoppers nationwide.» The new store tie-up is the latest step in a strong relationship between the two companies. Alongside its Ready to Drink and At Home ranges, Costa Coffee already has over 1,000 Express machines in Sainsbury’s stores and petrol stations, selling a staggering ten million cups of coffee in 2023 alone. It gives coffee fans access to an even wider array of options – from enjoying the taste of coffee in-store or grabbing a quick cup on-the-go, to savoring it at home or at work.
Richard Crampton, Sainsbury’s Director of Fresh Food: «We know that customers like the convenience of being able to stop for a drink, snack or sit-down lunch while they’re doing their shopping, and we think that Costa Coffee stores will offer a fantastic opportunity to do this within Sainsbury’s supermarkets.»
Sainsbury’s Farlington Superstore in Portsmouth is home to the supermarket’s inaugural Costa Coffee store, which opened its doors for the first time on Thursday (15th of February 2024) last week. Marking the beginning of an exciting expansion across Sainsbury’s locations nationwide, the new store boasts a contemporary and relaxing setting for customers to unwind after their supermarket shop or meet up with loved ones whilst enjoying a pick-me-up beverage or food item.
Creating nine new job roles within the local Portsmouth community, Costa Coffee’s team of expert baristas looks forward to welcoming customers and shoppers alike to the brand-new first-of-its-kind Costa Coffee store under its collaboration with Sainsbury’s.
